Oriental Topaz is a chunky boucle sisal in golden honey. The loops are large and irregular and the fibre catches the light, so the floor has a warmth and movement that flatter sisals do not. It is the most textural weave in the sisal range. Best in living rooms and bedrooms where the floor is meant to be noticed; the deeper texture is less suited to chairs on castors. Sisal, seagrass, jute and wool are natural fibres, and the yarn is not uniform the way a synthetic yarn is. Striations in the colour, irregularities in the weave and joining knots (particularly in jute) are inherent characteristics of these products, not manufacturing faults. The carpet is also woven under tension and cut along the warp or weft, so it will not be perfectly straight.
