Beijing is a fine basketweave seagrass in honey tan. Seagrass takes dye poorly, so the colour you see is close to the fibre's own, and it carries a natural sheen that no synthetic reproduces convincingly. The tight weave is smooth underfoot and hard-wearing. Seagrass is the most moisture-tolerant of the natural fibres we carry, which widens where it can sensibly go. Sisal, seagrass, jute and wool are natural fibres, and the yarn is not uniform the way a synthetic yarn is. Striations in the colour, irregularities in the weave and joining knots (particularly in jute) are inherent characteristics of these products, not manufacturing faults. The carpet is also woven under tension and cut along the warp or weft, so it will not be perfectly straight.
