Herringbone is a seagrass woven in a classic chevron, in a warm natural wheat that carries seagrass's characteristic sheen. The pattern gives a floor structure and direction, which works well in narrow rooms and passages where it can lead the eye. Sisal, seagrass, jute and wool are natural fibres, and the yarn is not uniform the way a synthetic yarn is. Striations in the colour, irregularities in the weave and joining knots (particularly in jute) are inherent characteristics of these products, not manufacturing faults. The carpet is also woven under tension and cut along the warp or weft, so it will not be perfectly straight.
