Platteklip is a light, warm blonde oak — the brightest of the wide-plank floors, with a soft honey undertone and fine, gentle graining. It lifts a room noticeably, and it's a good answer to a space that gets less natural light than you'd like.
On a 235mm plank the pale colour has room to breathe, and the floor reads as a continuous light surface rather than a series of boards. That's a strong effect in smaller rooms, where it buys a real sense of space.
It suits white and off-white walls, natural textures — linen, rattan, jute — and pale or mid-tone timber furniture. It's also one of the easier floors to live with day to day, since light warm tones hide dust better than either very pale or very dark ones.
